Frances Brody and Chris Nickson in conversation.

November 4, 2021 @ 19:00 21:00

We are very excited to host two great Leeds-based writers in conversation.

Frances Brody comes from a great family of story tellers, though she’s the first in the family to write professionally. “On the screen of my imagination,” she says, “I can conjure aunts and uncles from years gone by, and the word pictures they painted of people from earlier generations.”

She is the author of twelve Kate Shackleton mysteries – tales of a Yorkshire-based amateur sleuth in the the 1920’s, the most recent of which, Death and the Brewery Queen has been flying off shelves in the shop.

October sees her publish the first in a new series – A Murder Inside. Set in 1960’s Yorkshire it follows Nell Lewis, deputy governor at HMP Brackerley, and promises to be another classic page turner.

Chris Nickson is a prolific writer of historical crime and mystery novels, largely based in and around Leeds. His most recent novel, Brass Lives, is set in Leeds in 1913. It follows the fortunes of Deputy Chief Constable Tom Harper as he faces a sudden surge in crime, violence and murder on Leeds’s streets, while also confronting danger and tragedy close to home.

Frances and Chris will be chatting about their latest books, taking questions from the audience, and signing books.
