Art Offline: A conversation with Analog Sea founder Jonathan Simons

April 5, 2023 @ 18:30 21:00

Join us in the shop for a very special evening of readings and discussion with the founder of Analog Sea, Jonathan Simons.

Analog Sea is an American non-profit press with a mandate to support the printed word and local literary culture, including bookshops and libraries, as well as championing fair compensation for writers and artists and interrogating the effects of the digital revolution on the arts and letters. Based out of Austin, Texas, and Freiburg, Germany, Analog Sea was founded in 2018 by writer and editor Jonathan Simons.

They are delighted to announce the release of the fourth edition of its award-winning literary journal, The Analog Sea Review, a print-only hardback edition of poetry, essays, interviews, short fiction, and artwork.

Jonathan will read from his essay “Toward a New Renaissance” from the introduction of The Analog Sea Review, Number Four, and other texts from the journal.

As an offline publisher distributing exclusively to physical bookshops, Analog Sea “wishes for books to be traded between human beings and not relegated to robots and algorithms. Digital platforms are great for efficiency and massification, but they believe that efficiency and massification are in no way acceptable strategies for handling the arts and letters.  Analog Sea explores these questions through their various publications, including their offline literary journal, The Analog Sea Review.”
